April Monster Softie

Mosdinosaur1

This is my recycled monster for April's Month of Softies: a dinosaur made from an old pillow case I picked up for $1 at a garage sale. I had fun planning and sewing this one - usually I sew with heavy wools and tweeds, and this fabric is so light and cheerful! I'm still on a steep curve learning lots about 3D pattern making with every new attempt, but she did turn out pretty much as I'd hoped, aside from her sagging tummy... maybe she's had kids, too!

I love your recycled monster! She reminds me a little of a plant-eating dinosaur (someone in my house loves dinosaurs) camouflaging herself among the leaves and flowers.

i love your monster! beautiful work.

Oh, lovely! That fabric is so sweet, and I love her belly (embrace the sagging bellies!!).

great dino! it was a great theme (as usual) this month. I can't wait to see what everyone makes!!

I love your dinosaur! I've been experimenting myself with making my own patterns - so far just experiments! I'd love to hear about your pattern making process, because obviously, it's working!

That is so cute. You are quite talented!

lovely :)

yeh the little fella is gorgeous, nice one!

What a cute dino! And an Amy fan to boot - I used to work at a fabric store and the Amys were my favs - a new line is out - have you seen it? Check out www.sarahsfabrics.com.

Wow! She's great. Reminds me that I've got a couple of pillowcases around here...

Ha Saggy belly I like it! Love the idea of a flowery dinosaur...did you find the softer finer fabric hard to fill? I find its hard not to make it lumpy...Gotta love $1 funky pillow case finds too!

soo good-it reminds me of these dinos my mom made my brother and I in the 70's. they were out of awful (good awful)green fabric-we loved them so much!

I'm making sadie's summer dresses out of old sheets this year-but I hadn't thought to look for pillow cases-they would be cute as aprons too.

I think her sagging tummy is my favorite part. She wants a snuggle. Hard day at the watering hole, and all

I think you did a great job with the pattern. It looks like a Brachiosaurus my 5 year old just told me! I think it is wonderful and a very huggable shape too.

I think your dinosaur is wonderful! It reminds me of a favortie children's book of mine- Danny and the Dinosaur! great job!

Beautiful! I love the fabric and the dinosaur is sweet too; reminds me of one I had as a child....

Thanks for the lovely comments about the dinosaur!! You all made my day!

Love your site and your Dinosaur. Love you too. Dad

saggy tummies rock - everybody should have one.))
