down tools
Feeling really spent the last few days, and really uninspired. So I took a break from sewing up dolls (6 new ones in the works), downed tools and sewed up this bib for the little man. The cowboy fabric is a vintage piece from Lisa I've been holding on to for just the right project. It's backed with white flannel, and closes with a snap. I'd love one of these snap fastening machines - hammering small objects while pregnant (read: clumsy) is a dicey proposition. Also, I fluffed the binding a bit. It's some really thin stuff (about 5mm wide when sewn in) that I picked up at the op shop ages ago. I knew at the time that it should have been hand sewn instead of squeezed though the machine, but forged ahead bloody-minded anyway. Love that colour green, though.
Thanks for all your lovely comments recently, about my grandfather and about baby boy. Please know that I absolutely appreciate each and every message. Oh, and I know I'm often a broken record on this count, but I've fallen behind with my emails again. Thanks for your patience if you're waiting on me.

What a fantastic baby bib. Wish they had those patterns when I had a baby who dribbled constantly. I love the cowboy fabric too, it looks great with the green edging.

that's adorable fabric. I have so many ideas in my head and yet when I go to work on something, they all just flutter away -- right out of my ears and into the great yonder. So I know what you mean about making something like a bib to get the gears turning again.
And congratulations on the little boy!!!

That's such a cute bib! (At first glance I thought it was a bag, but either, totally adorable!) Oh and I tried those the hammer-in snaps for the first time a while ago and boy do you really have to hammer them in!

Gorgeous fabric and the green is just perfect :) It's a nice bib pattern too - looks like some room around the neck - some bib patterns seem so close to little necks but I suppose they are little! Congrats on expecting a healthy boy, a pigeon pair is lovely!! I only just noticed your new banner too - it's so happy and looks wonderful :)

Oh cute bib, i'd sell 10 cowboy bibs to every other fabric i do. I only use stud fasteners as i hate ties & velcro wears out. Stick it out with the bias binding on the bib, just do one round with it flat & fastening the back edge of the binding to the bottom of the bib, then fold the binding & go around the edge again, on the right/ top of the bib. It will look a million dollars & cruise through the sewing machine, trust me!! I use PVC on top of my bibs too, so clothes keep clean & dry, then after 3 neat girls, i had a dribbler of a son, so i layered PVC, then towel, then feature fabric on top, best bib you'll ever use!! If i do say so myself, but i don't muck around. Happy pregnancy, you're body knows what it's doing, thus the larger size second time round. Well that is what i thought until second time around revealed twins!! Love Posie

I love your new header bar!
I have lost count of the times I've ploughed on regardless with sewing something badly just because I've wanted to get it done...that's the great thing about photos though - it looks wonderful and no one else can see the bits of binding that you're not happy with! :-)

Bib is gorgeous and the print will hide a multitude of sins (or spit ups).
I was clumsy and forgetful when pregnant. Many times I ran a bath only to forget to turn it off....

just loooked you up after reading 'The Crafter's Companion' and being totally inspired and relieved that i am not the only craft crazed person alive. I have always hidden my craft passion until now and it's thanks to the book, to reading stories like yours. So thanks....also congrats on the baby boy, your bib is great, i've been hunting for cowboy fabric to make a couch for my gorgeous 18mth old and it's really hard to find (at the right price to have vegemite sandwiches slopped on it). PS We named our son 'Rylan', he gets Riley for short, boys names are definately harder, we had our girls names chosen early on and our son wasn't named until the day after he was born... good luck.
