five, four, three, two, one...
Well, I fell of the posting every day wagon. We were up early yesterday morning, moving furniture, swapping around the last three rooms of our house in readiness for baby. Plus another trip to Ikea for good measure. We didn't reconnect the internet until after 11 last night, and by then, after being on my feet most of the day sleep seemed like a much better idea.
On Friday I told Audrey about the Advent stocking garland I wanted to make. Her eyes widened, and I realised that there was absolutely no way I couldn't come through with it (promising your child something is a such a good motivator!) So in between sorting stuff out yesterday, I snipped out these numbers for the front of the stockings. The felt is from Lyn - some of her beautiful hand-dyed & felted blanketing, which I've been hoarding for a special occassion. The stockings are going to be very basic - just the linen with some appliqué - but since there are only four sewing days left before December 1, basic is the only way to go!

the advent stocking garland sounds lovely. the numbers look perfect
some day i will make one of those but my to-do list for December is long enough already.

They're going to be perfect. What will you put in them?

So you found the linen, then? Yay! I know what you mean, sometimes I open my mouth and start to say something to my kiddos, and then realize I'd better think carefully in case I can't come through. But more often than not, I blurt something out and then am totally committed to sew/knit/crochet/make/do whatever I just let slip!

Michelle - yes, I got linen, but no, sadly, it's not "the" ikea linen, just some from my local fabric store.
Stephanie - I'm not sure yet! I'm thinking a comination of non sugary treats (like stickers, etc), and activites like the ones listed over here: http://littlebirds.typepad.com/little_birds/2005/11/simple_pleasure.html
Thanks! :)

That's a lovely palette. I can see that it's going to look terrific. I like the contrast the natural linen provides to the texture and colours of the felt.

Those colours & the linen look great, I can't wait to see it all finished!
PS. Looks like we got the change you mentioned in your last post ;)

hi, don't worry if you don't get all of your stockings finished for this year. you could always do half and some how tack the numbers on and change them after the 13th ? I'm sure A will understand. I did pockets last year and had so many good ideas from people,
