that's a lot of sewing...
Is it too soon for me to be blogging about the stocking garland again? Probably. But, from tomorrow there are only two sewing days left until advent begins and I'm a little one track minded about getting these finished. Since this photo was taken, almost all of the numbers have been appliquéd - only the red ones to go. I'd planned to hand stitch, but once I sat down with needle and thread, I realised how seriously flawed an idea that was! Speedy blanket stitch by machine it is.
I really have to push myself to the sewing machine in the evenings at the moment, so having a deadline like this is a great reason to get me away from watching hours of rubbish television. Yesterday my obstetrician told me that at 30.5 weeks pregnant, I am measuring 35 weeks. Blimey! She was unflustered about it, though - I measured similar with Audrey at the same stage. And it doesn't necessarily mean a big baby (so I repeat to myself!) Although it won't be any surprise if the little guy is tall like his sister. But it does explain the waddling like a duck and reluctance to move from the couch. ;)

I did an advent calendar like this last year - but with pockets and cut out numbers. It wasn't until I started cutting out the numbers that I realised how many times you have to cut out the number 2! Der. I resorted to craft glue to make the deadline and this year, at 37 weeks pregnant, I'm pulling out last year's effort for re-use! Good luck making the deadline!

Good move using the machine for all those numbers. I hand embroidered the numbers on my advent rheindeer and that was bad enough!!
I think you are doing so well to be making all that lovely stuff at your stage of pregnancy. I'm not even pregnant and don't produce half as much!
Really looking forward to seeing your finished advent stockings.

Fiona, I swear that we're just living the same life at the moment! I have finally finished sewing the numbers on to the advent calender - now I need to sew 48 buttons on to it!
And at 25 weeks pregnant I'm measuring 30 weeks. My dr says it's just because it's my second baby - which I think is her way of saying that I'm fat!
And Bella started waddling around the kitchen the other day saying "waddle, waddle, waddle" over and over. When I asked what she was doing, she said waddling like a penguin. Phew, I thought she was copying me - and then she followed it up with "like you do mummy!".
Nice.

Those will be adorable when finished. I decided I'd do one, too, after seeing some fabulous ideas in a few magazines, but I won't have time for this holiday season...a fall project next year? I can't wait to see them all finished. cute colors. felt is one of my favorites to work with.

I'm glad you realized machine applique would be better.
Sorry to hear that the little guy is helping you to measure so big.

My theory is you are pre-stretched with the second, so of course you are going look bigger! Heaven knows what I will look like when I eventually fall pregnant with the third! Love the advent calender! (I cheated and bought mine from Bayswiss!)
