Lordy, that went fast. Someone once said to me - or perhaps I read it - that as a parent to young children, the days are long but the years are short (sorry if I'm badly paraphrasing your blog entry). Those words are ringing very true for me at the moment. Thanks again for your lovely comments about Henry's arrival. We are still all here, and still doing fine. At 7 weeks old Henry is a real delight. The two child juggle has not been without it's ups and downs (those of you with 3 or more children will surely be scoffing at me), but we seem to be settling in to some kind of daily rhythm. Mr H is a catnapper by day like his sister before him. Hence no blog posts for a month as I remember what it's like to try to squeeze as much as possible into the 40 minute baby sleep cycle.

So I'm afraid there's not much for me to report, unless record breaking heatwaves are of interest. (I almost went bonkers staying inside for so many days on end with a newborn). I still haven't made it back to the sewing machine, although all that time on the couch spent feeding has been put to good use thinking about all the things I'm going to make one day soon. The photo up top is of an unfinished doll quilt I made for Audrey before Henry's arrival. (Still sitting on my desk waiting for binding - ack! the guilt!) The other photo was taken of the little guy last week. Just because.

that's a gorgeous quilt, and that henry...what a handsome young man! Hang in there, the sewing does come back eventually. After having jasper, I felt like I might never sew again, but now at 11 weeks, things are slowly starting to happen again.

Henry is beautiful, and looks very alert. I love Bonds singlets, especially the ones that come in brighter colours - my favourite was an apple green one.

It was pretty bad here in Melbourne (we get your weather after you), but not as bad. We had a family wedding in the middle of it though, and sweltered.

Bring on real autumn weather.

Anyway I second Levineke, (as I have three as well) - it is nice to experience a baby from a little distance, he is divine.

such a cutie! Love the green on him ;)

Breaking heatwaves...pff I feel really sorry for you, I think Melbourne was bad, but then thinking of you...ouch!

Wow what a little beauty. I remember those early months both mine were cat nappers too, makes for fun times

I'm glad to hear you are doing well. Little Henry looks so alert, as if he is taking in everything happening around him, wondering what it is like, this place where he has arrived :-)
The quilt looks lovely, don't worry - you'll soon find the oomph to finish it. With a new baby AND a heat wave you really can't be expected to right now. The idea of a heat wave sounds delicious right now by the way - we are snowed in!

Actually, the transition from two to three was way easier than from one to two - or from zero to one. :o)

Ahhh... gorgeous.

The quilt, and the boy.

Good to hear from you again - I hope the cooler weather is doing you some good - I know I feel a thousand times better for it!

Oh, heavens. He is so very adorable!

The blanket is beautiful and Henry is adorable!
I totally understand about the juggle 2 children thing.Altho mine are much older,my sister has 8 kids she will never have sympathy..lol.

He is sooooadroable! And The quilt is so cute too! The greens look lovely! : )

What a sweet little guy! My guy is due in a month, so I'm just about to be in the same boat as you (with an 18 month old girl too!). I'm scared out of my mind...hoping that I get to sleep at least a little every day! Indeed, the days are long because they have no real end for the first month or two (with feedings happening every 3 hours!). But holding those little people, soaking them in--I can't think of anything more special!

Hi, I've been following your great blog for a while now and thought it was about time I said 'hello'! What lovely pics of your son Henry. I love the quilt too. I live in Devon, UK and it is freezing here at the moment. After 8 years of living in our house this is the first time we have run out of heating oil too and the house has been so cold you can see your breath!!! Thanks for an inspiring blog Fiona.

Just lovely! :)

Glad to hear your making the most of the couch time - I think I did some of my best thinking during those hours!

That is one gorgeous, gorgeous boy!! I can't believe it's been 7 weeks already, but then again I can't believe that I'm coming up to 5 weeks. It's crazy isn't it?
Glad to hear you're all doing well - and like I said, that's one gorgeous, gorgeous boy!

oooh, I have missed your blogging so much! I have called by every day eager to hear how your little H was going. You have gladened my heart to read that all is going swimmingly (or at least I bet it had been when the heat was really on!). I look forward to you getting back to your machine....but don't rush...everyday don't take too fast for once it's taken it's in the past! - Jen

I love your fabric choices for the quilt! Henry is so adorable, and cool-I love his fauxhawk! ;)

Hi! Thanks for saying hello to us. It is a hectic time. I remember it well. Henry is so adorable!

doesn't he look sweet in green! Apparently 3 isn't as bad as 2..easier they say, perhaps because your life is already chaotic and adding another one is barely a ripple in the already choppy waters! THAT SAID, I have know idea and am perfectly happy with my 2.

Wouldn't it be good to find a craft project you could do with just one hand so when you were feeding you could be doing something else too.

enjoy those long days.

the doll quilt is adorable but not quite as adorable as the baby. I know EXACTLY what you mean with the "days are long but the years are short" A friend told me that a year ago, so true.

he's beautiful, and I just adore those colourful Bonds singlets.

Wonderful to hear that all is well - he is stunning. Makes me think about making our family just that little bit bigger...

it does just go flying by, doesn't it? your words (badly paraphrased or not) are so true. i'm trying to enjoy every minute of my wee ones infant days...they will be over all too soon.

is it just me? or is it the photos? Henry looks to be quite an old soul...not the newborn that he is. anyway, he's just beautiful!

Both baby and quilt are quite sweet! I love seeing the tiny fingers swinging in motion during the photo. So very adorable! :)
