dolls for the bushfire appeal

 

 

Good morning! Just a quick post to say that I've finished a couple of dolls, and have put them up in my shop. All proceeds will go to the Red Cross for the Victorian bushfire appeal, as part of Handmade Help. There are two dolls, Polly and Lucy. They are much bigger than my usual doll (almost 50cm tall!) and they both come with a couple of costume changes - two smocks and two sets of trousers each. There are more pictures and details at the individual listings. Edited to add - both sold now, many thanks!

ways to help

There's not much to say that hasn't already been said about the horrific bushfires still burning out of control across Victoria. It's tragic, devastating, incredibly sad.

There are things we can do to help people who have lost their homes, friends and families:

• Pip and Cindy have set up Handmade Help detailing items for auction to raise money among lots of other useful information. I'm working on some auction items.
• If toys are your thing you might like to consider sending some to the wonderful Toy Society who are collecting handmade toys to send to children who have lost everything. 
• The major appeal organisations are no longer accepting clothes, but much needed funds can be donated to redcross.org.au or salvos.org.au.
• If you're in Adelaide, there's a bushfire appeal collection at the Wayville showgrounds 8am-6pm weekdays. They're collecting toiletries, suitcases, handbags, manchester, non-perishable food and pet food.

Henry turned one today. We celebrated with chocolate and blueberry cupcakes. He voraciously - but precisely - picked off each blueberry and ate it. And then proceeded to crumble the cake all over the floor. A future fruitarian, perhaps? I was scared about what this first year might be like, but I needn't have been. Such a happy little camper. We love him to bits. Happy birthday handsome Harry!
