My Dad was visiting from out of town last week, so it was a fine occassion for a special cake. I discovered the recipe for this one on pinterest (where else?) - almond & yoghurt cake with blood orange curd. It was the curd that lured me in. I expected it to be a glorious, glossy pink-red concoction - but, of course, when mixed with the egg yolks that beautiful pink juice became more of a weird pinky yellowy glug. Nevermind, it tasted pretty good. (Second photo taken with the haste and blur that only a few glasses of wine can provide...)
I'm trying to cut down on the sugary stuff at the moment so I'm going to have to cross my fingers for a few more special occassions to justify some more baking: ginger sponge, anyone? blackberry frozen yoghurt? Yum.
